Celebrating 15 years of Soundtrackcity and open studio

Soundtrackcity, Studio Veemkade 594, Amsterdam
Celebrate 15 years of Soundtrackcity with us on September 15 in the studio on Veemkade, Amsterdam. Save the date.

Celebrate 15 years of Soundtrackcity with us. You are welcome on 15 September from 12:00 – 18:00 at Veemkade 594, on the top floor of Pakhuis Wilhelmina.

In September 2009, Soundtrackcity launched with eight audio walks that together formed a psychogeographic portrait of a city. That city was Amsterdam, but different. Now in 2024, that city exists only in these audio walks. Walks in which you can still immerse yourself using the app TRACKS.

Soundtrackcity moved on after 2009, producing another 40 or so walks within and outside Amsterdam with partners such as IFFR, ITA, ITGWO, WORM, Het Veem, SKOR ao. This was followed by community art projects and research into sound as a fundamental component of the living environment.

Where does Soundtrackcity stand now? Find out on the open day.

2nd Pakhuis Wilhelmina Biennial

Our open studio is part of the 2nd Biennial of Pakhuis Wilhelmina, the building that houses a multitude of artists, designers and creative companies in addition to Soundtrackcity. Most of them have also opened their doors so there is a lot to see and experience on the 15th of September.

Pakhuis Wilhelmina is a unique working building on the IJ harbour in Amsterdam with an impressive history of perseverance, struggle and decisiveness on the part of the users to preserve the building and its function.

A plurality of cultural professionals work daily in 94 studios and workshops. The diversity of professions is characteristic of Pakhuis Wilhelmina and gives the building and its activities their own character. There is broad representation from the visual arts, designers, musical professions, theatre makers, photographers and professional performers.
