Michiel presented the interactive art installation Sonic Aggregator April 20 at Urban Sound Symposium (USS) 2023 in Barcelona. USS is organized biannually by an international consortium of universities each time in a new city.
The presentation was part of a three-day program with presentations by international professionals from Canada, GB, Portugal, Belgium, China, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Europe and North America were clearly over-represented. The programme prompted a lively exchange on pressing issues in overlapping fields of urban sound planning and design, sound propagation and control, sound technologies, urban soundscape analysis and sound art.
On April 20, the day dedicated to “Techniques and technologies,” Michiel presented Sonic Aggregator and gave a demo in the form of a film, as it proved financially impossible to transport the artwork back and forth to Barcelona.
