Soundtrackcity will provide a live audio stream from the Frankendael allotment garden complex on World Listening Day 2025.
VTV Frankendael is an allotment garden complex near the small village of Driemond, south of Amsterdam. The complex is spacious, unspoilt and has a high level of biodiversity. It serves as a refuge for plants and animals that have no chance of survival in the surrounding areas, which suffer from large-scale infrastructure (high ways, waterways and railways, high-voltage power lines), agro-industry and advancing urbanisation. Many animals are shy and only come out when people are away. With this live stream, we provide you a chance to hear them. Be sure to listen at night, as many animals are active then.
Our stream is part of radio.earth, a participatory radio art project concerning the ecological crisis, its effects on our environment and on the possibilities for action. The project aims to establish a network of collaboration between individuals and organisations interested and engaged in these subjects, with all their respective practices from art and science to activism.
3 May, Soundtrackcity also provided a live stream from allotment garden complex Frankendael. That stream was part of Reveil and was listened to by many around the globe. We will continue to follow this area in the future, in different seasons, with our live streams.
Are you a member of VTV Frankendael? Then you can participate in the Guided Listening Session on 18 July. More information in the association’s Signal channel.
